The Łagisza Power Plant ( Polish Elektrownia Łagisza ) is a hard coal-fired power plant in Łagisza , a district of Będzin in the Silesian Voivodeship , Poland . The power plant is owned by Tauron Wytwarzanie , a subsidiary of the Polish energy company Tauron Polska Energia .
history
The first parts of the plant were started when this part of Upper Silesia was still part of Germany. The proximity to Czarna Przemsza and the surrounding coal mines were decisive for the location . In 1947, work on the plant was resumed under the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. At the end of 1958, the preparatory work began to build a new power plant on the site. The actual work began in the spring of 1960, and a total of seven power plant units had been built by 1970. In the 1990s, new burners and flue gas desulphurisation systems were installed.
In 2009 a new unit with an electrical output of 460 MW was put into operation; for this two old blocks were shut down. The steam generator of the new block, built by Foster-Wheeler , was the time of construction of the largest steam generator in the world with a circulating fluidized bed combustion (Engl. Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion , shortly CFB ) and the first and only supercritical CFB boiler.
A new power plant block with an installed capacity of 413 MW is to be built in Łagisza by 2018 . According to the planning, the costs amount to approximately 1.5 billion zlotys .
Technical specifications
The power plant has a total output of 820 MWe (3x120 MWe + 460 MWe) and a heating output of 335.2 MWt. The efficiency of the system averages 37%.
