The Arrúbal power plant ( Spanish Central térmica de Arrúbal ) is a combined cycle gas and steam power plant in the municipality of Arrúbal , La Rioja province , Spain . The installed capacity of the power plant is 800 MW . It is owned by ContourGlobal and operated by ContourGlobal. The power plant went into operation in September 2005.

Power plant units

The power plant consists of two blocks that went into operation in 2005. The following table gives an overview:

The construction of the power plant was carried out by Siemens and completed in September 2005. The project consists of 2 gas and steam turbines, 2 boilers, 2 chimneys, outbuildings, 1 cooling tower with 16 fans, a water treatment plant and a demineralization plant. The construction costs amounted to around 360 million euros.

The annual production in 2006 was 4.651 billion kWh .
