The power plants in Spain are shown both on a map and in tables (with key figures). The list is not complete.

Installed capacity and annual production

In 2016 was Spain concerning. The installed capacity of 105.9  GW in place 12 and with respect. Annual production of 258.6 billion  kWh in place 17 in the world. The degree of electrification was 100% in 2016. Spain was a net importer of electricity in 2016; it exported 14.18 billion kWh and imported 21.85 billion kWh.

In 2011, nuclear energy accounted for 20 percent of total electricity generation; According to the IAEA , the proportion is currently 20.43% (as of December 2019).

  1. The reactor was temporarily shut down on July 6, 2013 ( long-term shutdown ); on August 2, 2017, it was finally switched off ( permanent shutdown ) without being put into operation again in between.

Hydropower plants

There are numerous hydropower plants in Spain. In 2008, its installed capacity was 19,015 MW, that is 20.1% of the total installed capacity of 94,761 MW. In rainy years, their annual production can exceed 40 billion kWh, while in dry years it is less than 25 billion kWh. The table lists the hydropower plants with an installed capacity of more than 100 MW.

Wind farms

At the end of 2013, Spain was in second place in the EU for wind turbines in terms of installed capacity with 22,959 MW. According to The Wind Power , wind turbines with a total output of 23,431 MW were recorded at the end of 2018 (in operation, under construction or planned).
