The power plants in Laos are shown both on a map and in tables (with key figures). The list is not complete.

Installed capacity and annual production

In 2016, Laos was in 75th place in the world with 6.94  GW of installed capacity and 66th place in the world for annual generation with 29.74 billion  kWh . The degree of electrification was 87.1% in 2016 (97.4% in cities and 80.3% in rural areas). Laos was a net exporter of electricity in 2016; it exported 8.469 billion kWh and imported 2.5 billion kWh.

Hydropower plants

In 2015, hydroelectric power plants with an installed capacity of 4.168 GW were in operation in Laos . The annual generation of the hydropower plants in the same year was 18.7 billion kWh , of which around 2/3 were mainly exported to Thailand and to a lesser extent to Vietnam. Electricity exports accounted for around 30% of Laos' export earnings in 2015. In June 2017, 46 hydropower plants with an installed capacity of 6,444 GW were in operation in Laos, with an annual production of 35 billion kWh. A further 54 hydropower plants were under construction at this time.
