history
The Trillo nuclear power plant consists of a pressurized water reactor from the German power plant Union that is in operation . This has a thermal output of 3010 MW , a net electrical output of 1003 MW and a gross output of 1066 MW. Construction of the reactor block began on August 17, 1979. The reactor became critical for the first time on May 14, 1988, was first synchronized with the power grid on May 23, 1988, and began commercial operation on August 6, 1988. The reactor has three circuits and fuel assemblies in a 16 × 16 design.
There were plans for a second reactor block in Trillo, a pressurized water reactor with a net electrical output of 950 MW and a gross output of 1000 MWe. After a change of government, the plan for Trillo 2 was abandoned on April 1, 1984.
fuel
The operator Centrales Nucleares Almaraz-Trillo AIE receives the nuclear fuel from Areva . A corresponding contract was signed on August 3, 2009, which is valid for six years from 2010 and includes the delivery of around 240 fuel elements. Areva has delivered around 1100 fuel assemblies since it was commissioned.
