The Valdecaballeros nuclear power plant ( Spanish Val de caballeros - German  Valley of the Lords ) was to be built near Valdecaballeros in the province of Badajoz , Spain and consist of two power plant blocks with boiling water reactors from General Electric . Construction of the two reactors began on August 17, 1979. In 1983, however, the project was stopped due to a decision by the new government. When the construction project was finally discontinued in 1994, the first block was 70% completed and the second block 60% completed. The operator Endesa received compensation payments.
