The Palos de la Frontera power plant ( Spanish Central de Palos de la Frontera ) is a combined cycle gas and steam power plant in the municipality of Palos de la Frontera , Huelva province , Spain . The installed capacity of the power plant is 1200 MW . The generation in 2007 was 6.726 billion kWh . The power plant went into operation in 2004; it serves to cover the base and medium loads . It is owned by Naturgy and operated by Naturgy.

According to press reports, Naturgy asked the responsible authorities for permission in 2019 to temporarily shut down two units of the power plant.

Power plant units

The power plant consists of three blocks that went into operation from 2004 to 2005. The following table gives an overview:

In all three blocks, the gas and steam turbines are connected to a common shaft ( single-shaft ). The gas turbine has a maximum output of 266 MW and the steam turbine a maximum of 133.6 MW.
