The Hsinta power plant is a coal-fired power plant in Taiwan with an installed capacity of 2.1 GW in 2014 . The power plant is located directly on the coast in the northwest of the city of Kaohsiung and consists of four power plant blocks. The two older units from 1982/3 each have 500 MW, the two newer units from 1985/6 each have a unit output of 550 MW. The operator and owner of the power plant is the Taiwan Power Company .
The coal required for operation is imported by ship from Canada, Australia and South Africa. Since 2009, there have been four roofed coal bunkers with a capacity for 170,000 tons of coal each, which ensures uninterrupted power plant operation for 50 days.
