The Kalsdorf power plant is a run-of-river power plant operated by Verbund AG and Energie Steiermark . It is located in the municipality of the Styrian municipality of Kalsdorf bei Graz above the Mur . The power plant, which went into operation in 2013, has an installed capacity of 19  MW and produces 81.2 GWh of electrical energy annually  .

The Kalsdorf power plant is located approx. 6.6 km south of the Gössendorf power plant built in 2012 and approx. 4.3 km north of the Mellach an der Mur run- of- river power plant .

The power plant dams the Mur to around 11.2 m and has a flow rate of 200 m³ of water per second. The water drives two Kaplan turbines with a combined output of 19 megawatts.

Verbund AG and Energie Steiermark shared the construction costs of EUR 75.3 million . The maintenance and restoration of the riparian zones was one aspect of the construction of the power plant. The renovation work created numerous recreational opportunities. Furthermore, the flood measures for the neighboring communities were improved. This work cost an additional 10 million euros.
