The mailiao power plant is a coal-fired plant in Taiwan with a 2014 installed capacity of 4.2 GW . The power plant is located directly on the coast of the South China Sea in the Yunlin district and consists of seven power plant blocks of 600 MW each, making it one of the largest power plants in Taiwan.
The power plant is owned by the Mai-Liao Power Corporation and Formosa Petrochemical Corporation and was after the dissolution of the monopoly Taiwan Power Company , the first major power plant in Tawan which was not operated by the Taiwan Power Company. The power plant primarily serves to cover the base load ; the Mai-Liao industrial park is located in the immediate vicinity of the power plant complex .
