The power plant Memve'ele ( French Barrage de hydroélectrique Memve'ele ) is a hydroelectric power plant in Nyabessang region Sud , Cameroon , the most Ntem is located. The power plant is owned by Eneo also operated and Eneo.

history

The contract to build the power plant was signed at the beginning of 2012 between the government of Cameroon and the Chinese company Sinohydro . Construction work began in January 2013. The power plant's first machine went into operation in September 2016.

Barrier structure

The barrier structure is an earth embankment dam with a height of 20 m.

Reservoir

The reservoir has a comparatively unusual shape. Since the valley is relatively narrow in this area, the lake is heavily ramified by the old and tributaries. However, with a length of well over 10 km and a storage volume of 19 million m³, it only has a maximum width of 200 m.

The Memve'ele power plant has a total of four Francis turbines and an installed capacity of 211  MW .
