The Nam Phong power plant is a combined cycle power plant in Nam Phong County, Khon Kaen Province , Thailand .

The installed capacity of the power plant is 710  MW . Construction of the power plant began in 1989. The first block went into operation in 1990. The power plant is owned by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and is also operated by EGAT.

Power plant units

The power plant consists of two blocks. The following table gives an overview:

block unit Max. Power (MW) Start of operation turbine generator Steam boiler
1 1 121 1990 MHI MHI MHI
2 121 1990 MHI MHI MHI
3 113 1992 MHI MHI
2 1 121 1993 MHI MHI MHI
2 121 1993 MHI MHI MHI
3 113 1994 MHI MHI

The two blocks each consist of two gas turbines and a downstream steam turbine . A waste heat steam generator is connected to each of the two gas turbines ; the waste heat steam generator then supplies the steam turbine.
