The Peschtera Power Plant is a hydropower plant in the Pazardzhik Oblast , Bulgaria . It has an installed capacity of 128 MW . The power plant uses the water from the Batak dam, approx. 4.5 km away, to generate electricity. The city of Peschtera is about 5 km northeast of the power plant.
The power plant is owned by Nazionalna elektritscheska kompanija EAD (NEK EAD) and is also operated by NEK EAD.

The power plant went into operation in 1959. It has an installed capacity of 128 MW . The average annual production is 300 million kWh . The 5 Pelton turbines with horizontal shaft each have an output of 25.6 MW; they are located in an underground machine house.
A tunnel leads from the Batak dam to the Peschtera power plant. The drop height is 586 m and the maximum flow is a total of 26.25 m³ / s.
Aleko power plant
After use, the water from the Peschtera power plant is forwarded to the upper basin of the Aleko power plant.
