The Kraichsee is a pond near Sternenfels and Oberderdingen , east of Bretten im Kraichgau in Baden-Württemberg . The pond is located on the Kraichbach , a few hundred meters below the Trinkwaldsee and the Kraichbach source and is a popular local recreation area. The lake, which is completely surrounded by forest, was built in the 14th and 15th centuries. It was laid out in the 19th century and served the monks from Maulbronn and Herrenalb to raise fish. The pond is dammed by a dam, the drainage takes place via a monk . The banks are mostly steep, only in the south there is a small silting zone, which is mainly planted with black alder .
