The hospital Vilkpėdė ( lithuanian Vilkpėdės ligoninė ) is a hospital in Vilnius , Lithuania . It is located in the Vilkpėdė district . The hospital used to be a company hospital. It was used for the treatment of the employees of the Vilnius train station and the AB Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai railway company .

history
The hospital was built from 1905 to 1911 and opened in 1912. This is where the railway workers and soldiers in what was then the Russian Empire were . In 1912 the hospital had 150 beds. In 1938 the hospital staff consisted of 18 doctors, 26 general nursing nurses, 49 nurses, commercial and office workers. 4,291 patients were treated per year.
After the Second World War , the facility in what was then Soviet Lithuania was expanded. In 1985 the hospital had 300 beds. The departments for pulmonology , cardiology , gastroenterology , nervous diseases , otorinolaryngology , eye diseases and childhood diseases were established here.
The hospital has belonged to the Vilnius Municipality since 1992 . In 2003 they got a loan from the World Bank . It was renovated from 2003 to 2004 and reconstructed in 2006. The management is carried out according to LST EN ISO 9001 : 2001. In 2013, 1,558 patients were treated.
