Krating Daeng

Krating Daeng ( Thai : กระทิง แดง , dt. "Red Gaur ") is an energy drink that has been widespread mainly in Thailand since the early 1970s. In contrast to Red Bull, it is non-carbonated, with a slightly different recipe and in small yellow glass bottles and different doses on sale is. It is produced and sold by TC Pharmaceutical Co. The key ingredients in Krating Daeng are caffeine and taurine , an aminosulfonic acid that was originally isolated from bull bile but is now synthesized. This fact and the association of bulls with strength and endurance gave Krating Daeng its name.

The Austrian Dietrich Mateschitz became aware of Krating Daeng in 1982 during a business trip to East Asia and subsequently acquired the license rights to the brand. Together with the owner of TC Pharmaceutical, Chaleo Yoovidhya , and his son Chalerm , Mateschitz founded Red Bull GmbH .
