Krebs + Kiefer is a German engineering office from Darmstadt .

history

In 1950, Alfred Mehmel (1896–1972) founded an engineering office in Darmstadt. Mehmel was a professor at the chair for solid construction at the Technical University of Darmstadt .

In the 1950s, Professor Albert Krebs (* 1932) became an employee of the engineering office and a partner in 1965. A very large project was the construction of airport terminal 1 at Frankfurt am Main airport , which attracted attention and expansion and is closely linked to the name of Gerhard Kiefer (1934–2005), who became a partner in 1971. In 1973 the engineering office Krebs + Kiefer was founded.

In the 1980s, the office became interdisciplinary and supraregional; branches were founded in 1987 in Karlsruhe and 1990 in Berlin. In 1991, Krebs + Kiefer received the order to plan a 100-kilometer new ICE route with bridges and tunnels; Such a project dimension can now also be implemented.

Starting in 2000, Krebs + Kiefer, with over 350 employees at 14 locations, increasingly oversaw projects in other European countries, the Arab states as well as in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe, including stadium construction, international project management tasks and planning for large infrastructure construction projects. A highlight is the 170-meter-high ship lift on the Yangtze in China .

Krebs + Kiefer now has over 550 employees and major international projects such as the Great Mosque of Algiers . Special know-how exists in hydraulic steel construction .
