background

The US state of Louisiana has one of the highest cancer death rates in the US , although it is debatable whether or not the high density of petrochemical companies in the area known as Cancer Alley is actually responsible for the high cancer death rate in Louisiana a below-average supply from appropriately specialized medical facilities is the cause. In addition, there is controversy between environmental activists on the one hand and representatives of the petrochemical industry on the other as to whether the accumulation of petrochemical industrial companies in the coastal section of the Mississippi really leads to an increased risk of cancer. A clear assessment is difficult due to the numerous factors responsible for the development of cancer diseases.
