The Hofgeismar district clinic is the largest of the three district clinics of the Gesundheit Nordhessen Holding (GNH) and, alongside the Evangelical Hospital Gesundbrunnen, one of two hospitals in Hofgeismar .
New building
At the end of 2018, the Kassel district council decided to build a new clinic in Hofgeismar. Particular criticism in regional politics was caused by the fact that the property on Grebensteiner Strasse intended for construction was not bought, but only leased for 99 years. In 2019, statements by the mayor of Kassel and chairman of the supervisory board of GNH, Christian Geselle , led to uncertainty in the district and city as to whether the new building in Hofgeismar would still come. Both pointed out that they had already paid the first rent for the property. At the beginning of 2020, the owner of the other hospital in Hofgeismar, Evangelische Altenhilfe Gesundbrunnen , also spoke up and offered to build a joint regional health center on the Krähenberg in Hofgeismar. This was preceded by concerns from local companies, who feared that the new clinic in their area would tighten the noise regulations.
