The Rheinland Klinikum Grevenbroich Elisabethkrankenhaus is a basic and standard care hospital in the Rhine district of Neuss with 308 beds.

history

Today's Rheinland Klinikum Grevenbroich Elisabethkrankenhaus has its origins in the foundation of the monastery of the Wilhelmite Order in 1296 by Walram von Kessel and his wife Katharina from Kessel in the Netherlands . This monastery also served as a hospital .

From 1628 it was a Cistercian monastery , whose prior was also pastor of Grevenbroich. The secularization took place 1,803th

In the middle of the 19th century the monastery buildings were acquired by the Catholic parish. In 1893 the St. Elisabeth Hospital was established in the rooms of the former Wilhelmitenkloster. At this point in time around 22,000 marks were available. This hospital in the former monastery buildings could accommodate around 36 sick and disabled people, but no infectious patients. A doctor was able to provide medical treatment, while the Augustinian women from the St. Joseph parent company in Neuss took on the care services .

During the First World War , the hospital was as a military hospital used and was then part of the French occupied .

In 1935 the hospital was relocated to its current location on von-Werth-Straße, since October 1, 1960, it has been sponsored by the Neuss district and has been operating under the name Grevenbroich St. Elisabeth District Hospital since then. On January 1, 2019, the merger with Dormagen Hospital took place to form a hospital with two locations.

Services

The Rheinland Klinikum Grevenbroich Elisabethkrankenhaus is now a regional health center and belongs to the Rheinland Klinikum Neuss GmbH with the Rheinland Klinikum Dormagen and the Rheinland Klinikum Neuss Lukaskrankenhaus as well as a medical care center (MVZ Rhein-Kreis Neuss Kliniken GmbH) . The hospital has been an academic teaching hospital of RWTH Aachen University since 1980 . It is a so-called general hospital and as such has been included in the hospital plan of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The associated supply contract defines the supply structure of the house. There are a total of six clinics and departments with 308 beds (as of 2020) in the fields of surgery, gastroenterology and hemato-oncology, cardiology, gynecology and obstetrics, geriatrics, anesthesia, central emergency room and radiology. There is also a geriatric day clinic and a joint oncological outpatient clinic of the clinics for gastroenterology, oncology and gynecology. The house has 12 interdisciplinary intensive care beds.

The center is certified according to the quality criteria defined by the German Cancer Society “Technical Requirements for Colon Cancer Centers (FAD)”.
  • Old age trauma center : Here elderly patients with broken bones or vertebral fractures receive interdisciplinary surgical, internal and geriatric treatment. The center is certified according to the criteria of the German Society for Trauma Surgery (DGU) .

The hospital cooperates with the Institute for Pathology of the Medical Care Center Lukaskrankenhaus Neuss GmbH and the NeuroCentrum Grevenbroich. These specialist practices are located on the grounds of the Rheinland Klinikum Grevenbroich Elisabethkrankenhaus. At the beginning of 2011, a specialist medical center with nine practices was opened in a structural connection to the main building of the hospital. The medical emergency practice for the Grevenbroich, Rommerskirchen and Jüchen regions is also located at the Rheinland Klinikum Grevenbroich Elisabethkrankenhaus.
