The St. Blasien District Museum is a local museum in St. Blasien in the Waldshut district not far from St. Blasien Cathedral .

The 1989 opened museum is located in the house of the guest , the former monastic stables building . It shows the development of the St. Blasien Monastery from the origins of the Neuenzelle to the lonely Cella Alba to the important Benedictine abbey in the Black Forest. Among other things, books from the once rich monastery library are on display . Objects from the former Baden rifle factory , old advertisements and photos explain the further development of the place around the monastery as a glamorous resort with sanatoriums. The development of skiing in the Black Forest is also shown. In addition to the by Georg Thoma justifiedThe Hinterzarten Ski Museum , among other things, presents the first skis made in Germany. In addition, it provides information about the landscape, nature and geology as well as art and culture. The Nature Department was originally designed by Dieter Knoch . Works by the painters Hans Thoma , Franz Xaver Winterhalter and Hermann Fidel Winterhalter can be seen. There are special exhibitions.
