Kretheus (son of Aiolus)
Cretheus (Greek Κρηθεύς) was the founder and king of Iolkos in Greek mythology . He was one of the eight sons of Aiolus , the progenitor of the Aioles , grandson of the first Hellenes , Hellen , brother Sisyphus , Athamas and, among others, Deion , married to his niece Tyro , a daughter of his brother Salmoneus , who gave him the twin sons Neleus and Pelias , both from an affair with Poseidon , brought into the marriage . He himself fathered Aison of Iolkos with her, among others . So he was the grandfather of Jason , the leader of the Argonauts .
