The cloister of Bonnefont (French: Cloître de Bonnefont) is located in a park on the Square Eugène Azémar in Saint-Gaudens in the Haute-Garonne department in France . This is to re-arranged elements of the dialed cloister of the Cistercian abbey of Bonnefont , the Saint-Gaudens translocated were. The elements, dated to the 13th century, have been classified as Monument historique since 1927 .

history

Bonnefont Abbey was closed and sold during the French Revolution. Parts of the monastery church and other elements of the abbey were built in the surrounding area at other locations. Components of the cloister made it to New York City , where they were installed in a reconstructed cloister at The Cloisters Museum .

20 capitals with double columns were reconstructed in a park in Saint-Gaudens as a three-sided cloister, which is open to the east and has a smaller footprint than the earlier original in Bonnefont.
