The cross street is parallel to Währingerstraße running road, which in the 18th district of Vienna Waehring is located and at the 17th district of Vienna Hernals adjacent. It begins at Währinger Gürtel and ends at Simonygasse; in its extension, the Kreuzgassenbrücke crosses the tracks of the suburban line of the Wiener Schnellbahn and the street continues after the crossing with Gersthofer Straße in Czartoryskigasse.

Infrastructure

Tram line 42 runs almost the entire length of Kreuzgasse. At the inner end of the street is the General Hospital of the City of Vienna (AKH) and thus the station of the same name on the U6 subway line . Another public transport connection is the tram line 9, which touches Kreuzgasse at the Vinzenzgasse and Sommarugagasse stations.

history

The name of the alley goes back to the "red cross", a wooden cross with an iron body, which used to stand on Kreuzgasse and Martinstrasse.
