Ernst Georg Blank

Ernst Georg Blank was born on February 24, 1892. He studied biology, chemistry and medicine in Darmstadt, Strasbourg and Jena. Here he received his license to practice medicine as early as 1913. Ernst Blank completed his scientific training as a doctor of philosophy. After a time as an assistant doctor, he took over a doctor's practice in Eitorf in 1919 . He also worked in the hospital in Eitorf and researched many medicines. On Analgit he received a patent, it called for a factory-like production.

Carl Leuffen

Carl Leuffen was a medical druggist in Eitorf. He had his business in the building that would later become the Treppchen restaurant . Before the First World War , he moved to Leienbergstrasse and opened the Leuffen and Co. manufacturing company there together with the researcher Blank in 1922 .

Over three million bottles of Analgit were sold within three years, which soon became the company's common name. In 1924, the Mallebrin gargle preparation was a second great success. The property on Leienbergstrasse was bought and built on as Plant I. In 1928 the company was converted into a GmbH . Plant II was built on the corner of Bahnhofstrasse and Kreuzstrasse on the site of the building contractor Hesse and soon afterwards also on the Knüttgen and Dohr joinery. In 1930 the Krewel company in Cologne was taken over. It was renamed Chemische Fabrik Krewel-Leuffen GmbH on July 13, 1931 . After the creation of further plants and acquisitions, the company expanded to include Mettmann and Munich . There are the drugs Medicare Movement and Kranit launched. In March 1945, the plant was almost completely destroyed by aerial bombs, but was completely rebuilt under the direction of Ernst Blank. After Ernst Blank's death in 1957, his son-in-law Josef Viefhues continued to run the company successfully until his early death in 1969. His widow Inge Viefhues took over the management.

Meuselbach Pharma

Rheunervol from VEB Pharmazeutisch-Chemische Fabrik Meuselbach

The brothers Johann Balthasar and Johann Nicolai Lichtenheldt had been working as laboratory technicians and oil dealers since 1694 . Meuselbach-Pharma, based in Thuringia and one of the oldest German pharmaceutical companies, emerged from their company . It was first mentioned in 1745 as a commercial enterprise. Around 1890 the company employs 70 people. In 1926 the product range comprised 288 articles, including "Regulaxier", today's "Regulax". After the founding of the GDR , Meuselbach-Pharma was combined with other laboratories to form the "VEB Pharmaceutical-Chemical Factory Meuselbach".

Krewel Meuselbach

After the fall of the Wall , Krewel took over the management of Meuselbach-Pharma in 1991. The gradual amalgamation of the two companies led to the company Krewel Meuselbach GmbH in 1996 . The outdated production facility in Meuselbach , Thuringia, was replaced by a new building in Gehren, 20 km away, in 1996. After Inge Viefhues' death in 2011, the company is managed by a company advisory board and the executor as the representative of the heirs and the capital side. After the departure of the managing director Detlef Schierstedt (from 1997 to 2013), Thomas Quadt took over his position.
