Krieewelsche pappköpp is a dialect puppet theater in Krefeld . The program of the amateur theater , which was founded in 1978 and has been operating on its own stage since 2004, is mainly aimed at an adult audience.

Early years

After it was founded, which was inspired by a guest performance by Hrvinek & Spejbl in Krefeld, the Krieewelsche pappköpp were initially on the move as a mobile cabaret at various venues in the Krefeld area. The very first performance in 1979, for example, took place in the Krefeld Jazzkeller . They are also regularly represented at the flax market in Burg Linn with many performances per day, as well as with workshops for making dolls.

Playing in front of sold-out venues from the start , the puppet theater playing in krieewelsch Platt soon developed into a kind of Krefeld institution: in 1986 the Westdeutsche Zeitung even produced a record for the Kruut on Röve program . The recordings for this took place on March 1, 1986 in front of an audience at Herbst Pitt . In 1683 13 families from Krefeld emigrated to Philadelphia by ship , and Krefeld is twinned with the city. In 1983, the anniversary year, the pappköpp traveled there with the support of the city and played their pieces in Low German, High German and English. In the year before the trip, the ensemble published a small pamphlet about themselves with pictures, newspaper clippings and their own texts from their early days.

The known today Dolls the early days, such as the Matthes or Schäng , the Drietköter van Linter's Lumpi or professor Dingenskirchen, an "expert lecturers for Krieewelsch (Krefeld) Platt" invented and built Karlheinz Boves , the local autumn 1978 amateur puppeteer for his idea van da pappköpp Mop Club was able to inspire.

Pieces or small Stöckskes for pappköpp's cabaret programs were written primarily by ensemble members such as Manfred Coelen , but also by dialect authors Theo Mülders and Willy Hermes . Many of them, which often took up current events, were also broadcast on the radio at Welle Niederrhein

The West German newspaper published in 1998 for the twentieth anniversary of the pappköpp a richly illustrated more than 200-page book about the Krefeld Moppetheater with a representation of its origin and its history, notions of individual ensemble members and their tasks and activities, placing some of its pieces and a CD with audio recordings from various performances.

Own theater

Since November 19, 2004 , the Marionette Theater Krieewelsche pappköpp has been located at its own permanent venue at Peter-Lauten-Straße 62 in Krefeld. A number of regional sponsors made this possible. Around 25 performances per season, which runs from November to March, take place in the theater. Tickets are only available in advance, they are usually sold out after a few hours. The current theater was originally built as a church, then for many years the gym of the neighboring elementary school and now has 160 seats at rows of tables after the renovation.

Today there are four founding members in the predominantly male ensemble of the theater, which is still an amateur stage, according to the puppeteer and speaker Christel Loos , who is also responsible for public relations .

With No bös Do dran , a book with texts by pappköpp and a CD has recently been published regionally .

Rhineland thaler

Founding member and director Ralf Kochann was awarded the Rhineland thaler in 2006 for his services to the theater .
