War memorial (Darmstadt-Eberstadt)
The war memorial is a memorial erected in Darmstadt-Eberstadt in 1899 in memory of those who fell in the Franco-German War .
History and description
The foundation consists of rubble stones which are set with light gray granite steps . On a square base made of polished black granite - with an inscription and a trophy - stands a Germania figure made of sheet copper, executed as a galvanoplasty . The symbolic female figure with armor and laurel wreath on her head carries a sword . The figure was made by the Geisslingen Art Institute .
