Markwerben war memorial

The Markwerben war memorial is a listed war memorial in the Markwerben district of the city of Weißenfels in Saxony-Anhalt . The memorial is listed in the local register of monuments under registration number 094 13018 as a monument .

The ensemble in front of the town's church consists of a memorial for those who fell in World War I and one for those who fell in World War II .

The First World War memorial, a stele on a multi-level base , was inaugurated in 1922. There are two soldiers' figures on the stele . A soldier with a steel helmet removed is shown lying down. The second soldier bends down to the soldier lying on the ground. The monument bears the inscription Our Heroes. Gave their lives for the fatherland, including the names of the 18 fallen soldiers with the respective date of death. The years 1914–1918 are incorporated into the base as a relief .

The WWII memorial next to it is a simple memorial stone in the form of a tombstone . Its inscription reads In memory of the fallen of the Second World War.
