Markwerben is a district and locality of Weißenfels an der Saale that was incorporated in 2010 .
history
In a resulting 881 to 899 directory of the tithe of the monastery Hersfeld Markwerben is a tenth-requiring location Vuirbina in Fries field first mentioned.
An early medieval castle from the 10th century was abandoned a century later. In 1231 the village was first referred to as Marcwirbene . A settlement yard in the village was probably part of the Weissenfels Castle as a fiefdom .
On January 1, 2010, the previously independent community of Markwerben was incorporated into the town of Weißenfels together with the communities of Langendorf and Uichteritz .

The municipality of Markwerben, which was independent until its compulsory incorporation in 2010, is today a district and a village of the city of Weißenfels within the meaning of § 86 GO LSA . It thus has a local council and a local mayor.

Local mayor
Günter Fabig (CDU) has been the local mayor since the forced incorporation in 2010. He also belongs to the city council of Weißenfels and is a member of the CDU parliamentary group there. Hubert Schiller will be the local mayor from 2019.
