Leißling is a village and part of the city of Weißenfels in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt .

Leißling is located southwest of Weißenfels on the right bank of the Saale .

history

The community was first mentioned in a document in 1232. On September 1, 2010, the place was incorporated into the city of Weißenfels.

The municipality of Leißling, which was independent until its compulsory incorporation in 2010, is a locality of the city of Weißenfels within the meaning of § 86 GO LSA . It thus has a local council and a local mayor.

Local mayor

Bernd Ringmayer ( CDU ) has been the local mayor since the forced incorporation in 2010 . He also belongs to the city council of Weißenfels and is a member of the CDU parliamentary group there.

Attractions

The Marienkirche in the village is a baroque picture church. It was consecrated in 1716.

• War memorial in memory of the wars of 1864 , 1866 and 1870/71
• Memorial Stone On Marktweg (GDR times Otto-Müller-Strasse) in commemoration of the Communist Workers athletes Otto Mueller, who was sentenced to prison and penal battalion 999 died
• Memorial plaque on Karl-Marx-Platz 2 at the birthplace of the communist youth functionary Fritz Schellbach , who died in a Nazi prison camp in 1944 .

Leißling is known for its mineral fountains, from which the Mitteldeutsche Erfrischungsgetränke GmbH & Co. KG produces Leißlinger mineral water . The largest shopping park in the region, the “Schöne Aussicht” shopping center, is also located in Leißling.

In the immediate vicinity of the local area, the federal highway 87 runs from Weißenfels to Naumburg .

Leißling is a stop on the Thuringian Railway from Erfurt to Halle, which opened in 1846 .

The Oeblitzschleuse between Schönburg and Leißling is the uppermost Saale lock .

Since December 3, 2016, Leißling has connected Lobitzsch with a suspension bridge instead of a ferry connection that was abandoned in 2013 for cost reasons. Taking this recent history into account, it is officially referred to as the ferry bridge .

Sports

The local soccer club SG Fortuna Leißling was first mentioned in 1930 in the Weissenfelser Tageblatt . The game is played on the Klosterwiese sports field. In Leißling there were other sports clubs in the past: a cycling, a bowling and a gymnastics club, and acrobat groups were also active in the village.
