Wengelsdorf is a village and part of the city of Weißenfels in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
Wengelsdorf is the northernmost village in the city of Weißenfels. In the Wengelsdorf district there are also the settlements of Leina and Kraßlau. It borders in the north on Kirchfrahtorf, district of Bad Dürrenberg in the Saalekreis, and in the south on the Weißenfels district of Großkorbetha . The Saale forms the eastern edge of the district.
history
Wengelsdorf and the places Kraßlau and Leina, which belong to the manor Wengelsdorf , were until 1815 in the Electoral Saxon office of Weißenfels ( Burgwerben court chair ), which belonged to the Secondogeniture Principality of Saxony-Weißenfels between 1656/57 and 1746 . As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , Wengelsdorf, Kraßlau and Leina came to Prussia in 1815. They were in 1816 the county Weissenfels in the administrative district of Merseburg of the Province of Saxony allocated. In the 19th century, Wengelsdorf, Kraßlau and Leina merged into one municipality.
Until their incorporation on September 1, 2010, the districts of Kraßlau and Leina belonged to the municipality of Wengelsdorf. The last honorary mayor was Sybille Reider .

politics
The municipality of Wengelsdorf, which was independent until its compulsory incorporation in 2010, has since been a district and a locality of the city of Weißenfels within the meaning of Section 86 of the municipal code for the state of Saxony-Anhalt. It has a local council and a local mayor.
