Burgwerben is a village and part of the city of Weißenfels in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt .

Burgwerben is located immediately northeast of Weißenfels on the Saale .

history

In a register of the tithe of the Hersfeld monastery , which was created between 881 and 899, Burgwerben is mentioned in a document as the place of Vuirbina im Friesenfeld, which is subject to a tenancy fee .

On September 1, 2010, Burgwerben was forcibly incorporated into Weissenfels.

politics

The municipality of Burgwerben, which was independent until its compulsory incorporation in 2010, is today a district and a village of the city of Weißenfels within the meaning of § 86 GO LSA . It thus has a local council and a local mayor.

Hubert Schmoranzer has been the local mayor since the compulsory incorporation in 2010. He also belongs to the city council of Weißenfels and is a member of the “Landgemeinden” faction.

The connecting road from Weißenfels to Großkorbetha leads through Burgwerben . In the west the place is tangent to the federal highway 91 (Halle-Zeitz) in north-south direction.

The Thuringian Railway also touches Burgwerben, the next stops are Weißenfels (IC) and Großkorbetha (regional train).

The Saale cycle path runs between the railway line and the Saale.
