Pretzsch war memorial (Meineweh)
The Pretzsch war memorial is a listed war memorial in the Pretzsch district of the community of Meineweh in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments , the memorial is listed as a monument under registration number 094 83812 .
The war memorial in Pretzsch consists of two steles , one for those who fell in the wars of 1866 and 1870–71 and one for those who fell in the First World War .
The stele for the fallen in the wars of 1866 and 1870–71 is made of sandstone and stands on a small base . It was inaugurated on August 6, 1871. In the upper part the stele is decorated with four small spheres and one large sphere. There are memorial plaques on all four sides . The inscription on the plaque on the front reads TO REMEMBER THE PEACE CELEBRATION FROM 1870 - 1871 , and a wreath was engraved above the inscription. The inscription on the back reads The standing oak was i. Planted in 1816 for the Pretzsch Peace Festival . On the right side reads the inscriptionAs warriors z. Convene flag a. Pretzsch i. Years 1866 or i. Years 1870 - 1871 and on the left hand side of the mentioned happy returning warriors erected this memorial as a permanent memory of the grateful community members of Pretzsch on August 6th, 1871 .
The stele for the fallen of World War I is also made of sandstone. The top of the stele rests on four spheres and is crowned by an iron cross . Furthermore, the stele was decorated with a relief of a steel helmet with a branch . The inscription on the front reads THE MEMORY OF OUR HEROES FROM THE WORLD WAR 1914-1918 IN GRATITUDE FROM THE PRETZSCH COMMUNITY .
In addition to these two steles, there is another stele in memory of the fallen soldiers of the Second World War .
