The war memorial chapel is located in Stralsbach , a district of the Bavarian market Burkardroth in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen . It serves in memory of those who fell in World War I and World War II in the town.

history

The war memorial chapel was built in 1865 on the Stationsberg, which consists of limestone rock, and today commemorates the victims of the two world wars. In 1921, the local pastor Wilhelm suggested that the chapel be rededicated as a memorial chapel for those who fell in the First World War. 25 men from Stralsbach were killed in the war; 55 men returned. Inside the chapel there are lists of names of the fallen on two stone tablets (on the left, those who fell in World War I; on the right, those who fell in World War II). There is also a Pietà above the altar inside the chapel and a statue of St. Katharina (left) and the Archangel Michael slaying dragons (right). In 1983 the chapel was restored.

In 1860 the stations of the cross, made of sandstone and artificial stone , which lead from Silberdistelweg 9 to the chapel, were built. At the 14th station there is an inscription in Gothic script, which is addressed to the founders of the stations, Michael Hartmann and his wife Elisabetha, geb. Müller remembers.

The table pedestal cross next to the chapel and made of yellow sandstone dates from 1864. An inscription in Gothic script on the back of the cross names the founder of the cross, Georg Kröckel, who came from Stralsbach, and his wife Anna Maria geb. Noth.

In 1892 the brick and plastered Chapel of Our Lady was built at the foot of the Way of the Cross on Silberdistelweg. Inside it houses several figures with the Mother of God as the central figure .
