Kriegers Liebchen is a polka mazur by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 379). The work was performed for the first time on October 7, 1877 in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein .

Remarks

The polka was put together based on motifs from the operetta Prince Methuselah . The work thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 375 , 376 , 377 , and 378 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. Specifically, a couplet from the third act of the operetta was used as the basis for this polka. After the world premiere, the work was also included in the repertoire of some Austrian military bands and subsequently played by these bands.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 4 minutes and 29 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
