Kristian Jeppesen

Kristian Jeppesen (born December 20, 1924 in Frederiksberg ; † November 14, 2014 ) was a Danish classical archaeologist and building researcher .

Jeppesen is the son of the composer and musicologist Knud Jeppesen . From 1958 to 1991 he was Professor of Classical Archeology at Aarhus University . He became known through his excavations of the remains of the foundation of the Mausolleion in Halicarnassus between 1966 and 1977. His extensive reconstruction of the monument is widely regarded as the currently valid one.
