Kristin Wardetzky

Kristin Wardetzky (born July 26, 1942 in Ranis ) is a retired professor of theater education , fairy tale and storytelling researcher and storyteller . She lives and works in Berlin.

Life

After graduating from high school, Kristin Wardetzky studied German and English at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and a distance learning course in educational psychology in Leipzig. From 1970 to 1992 she was a theater pedagogue at the theater of friendship in Berlin. There she established reception research as a specific feature of children's and youth theater. Under her leadership, the reception behavior of children and adolescents was researched in extensive, long-term studies that met strict social science standards.

In 1983 she completed her doctorate at the Humboldt University in Berlin with a thesis on “Children in the theater - a reception-psychological investigation”, and in 1991 she completed her habilitation with the work “Fairy tales - readings by children. An empirical study ”.

After moving to the Fachhochschule für Sozialwesen Darmstadt (1992) and the University of the Arts Berlin (1993), research on fairy tales and myths as well as artistic storytelling formed the focus of her teaching and research activities.

Act

Kristin Wardetzky was a member of the jury and the board of trustees for several years. a. from 1992 to 1995 and from 2002 to 2005 at the Children's and Youth Theater Center Frankfurt / Main.

From 1999 to 2003 and from 2009 to 2015 Kristin Wardetzky was chairwoman of the association “Community for the Promotion of Children's and Young Adult Literature eV” (see LesArt ).

In 2001 she founded the storytelling theater “FabulaDrama” with four of her former students, and in 2007 the association “Erzählkunst e. V. ”and the first open narrative stage in Berlin.

She is the initiator and developer of numerous narrative theater projects in cultural education. From 2005 to 2007 Wardetzky was the initiator of the pilot project “Speechless?” To promote the language skills of children with a migration background. In 2007 the project was awarded the special prize of the jury of the 'Children to Olympus' competition. From the end of 2008 the project will be further developed [now together with Sabine Kolbe] into 'ErzählZeit'. In 2012/13 it was included in the regular funding of the Berlin Senate for Education, Youth and Family and received the prize in the nationwide competition “Ideas for the Republic of Education”.

In 2009/2010 she conceived and initiated the certificate course "Artistic Narration - Storytelling in Art and Education" at the Berlin Career Center College of the Berlin University of the Arts.

In addition to her extensive publication activities, Kristin Wardetzky is busy giving lectures in the Federal Republic of Germany and abroad (including Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, USA, Canada).

Wardetzkys scientific and educational theater premature legacy is managed by the German Archive for Theater Education (DATP).

Kristin Wardetzky has been a member of the board of the Märchen-Stiftung Walter Kahn and honorary chairwoman of the Erzählkunst eV association since 2018
