Kristjan Rahnu

Kristjan Rahnu (born August 29, 1979 in Kohila ) is an Estonian decathlete .

Rahnu achieved in May 2002 at a competition in Arlington for the first time a performance of over 8000 points. He took part in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , but finished the competition after the shot put.

His breakthrough to the top of the world came in the following year, when he took second place in the year's best list behind Roman Šebrle in Arles with a result of 8526 points . At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , he finished sixth with 8223 points. With his score from Arles he would have won silver from Šebrle, only Bryan Clay was out of reach with 8732 points.

At the 2006 World Indoor Championships in Moscow he finished fourth in the heptathlon, and at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg he was ninth with 8083 points.

Rahnu is trained by his father Roland Rahnu.
