Crown series
The crown series was a series of books in softcover format for humorous and satirical crime novels and in one case each for a humorous science fiction -novel or a Western parody. The series was published in the GDR by Eulenspiegel-Verlag , which became part of the Eulenspiegel publishing group after reunification . The hallmark was the signet of the row, an owl with too large a crown, which held a bomb with a burning fuse in the left muzzle and a revolver in the right muzzle. On the banners next to the owl there was “Kronen” on the left and “Krimi”, “Knüller”, “Western” or “Fiction” alternately on the right. Under the owl was the slogan: "Only real with the owl" and the word "INSTANT". With one exception, the series was published in 14 volumes from 1965 to 1976 . Well-known illustrators were responsible for the cover design. All volumes (up to 1977) cost 4.00 GDR marks . Up to the volume "Planet der Verliebten" by Gyula Fekete, the next volume was announced on the back. A special feature was the reprint of the novel "The Man Who Was Sherlock Holmes" by Stemmle. It appeared in 1996 with a new cover and the note “1. Edition ”, and the owl logo was redesigned.
