The Kronsberg life tower in Hanover is a work of art that was built for the German Evangelical Church Congress in 2005 . Today it is used as a climbing tower for children and young people. Climbing the around 20 meter high tower with its view over the roofs of the surrounding area takes place under supervision: the climbing wall only begins at a height of 3.50 meters and can only be reached after the supervisors have put on a ladder.

The location of the sports equipment , originally constructed as a work of art in the public space of Hanover and reminiscent of a 20-meter-high Mikado game, is the Oheriedentrift street near the Feldbuschwende tram stop in the northern area of the Hanoverian district of Kronsberg am Kronsberg .

History and description

Today's Kronsberg life tower was originally designed by the Hanoverian architect Katrin Schuh as a monument to the questions for the German Evangelical Church Congress in 2005 . Set up on Georgsplatz , the work of art was intended to invite visitors to the Kirchentag in 2005 to attach previously labeled strips of fabric to the twelve bars of the structure.

Also still in 2005 established members of the Hanoverian Adventgemeinde the club Kronsberg life tower eV to after the Church Congress together with citizens from the district Bemerode to dismantle the work of art at George Square and rebuild it in Kronsberg again. They also attached a wooden wall and 120 climbing holds to it for climbing. Previously, the statics had been recalculated and the beams were firmly concreted in on the ground. But only after the work of art, which had now been converted into sports equipment, was accepted by the Technical Inspection Association (TÜV), the Kronsberg life tower could be offered as a meaningful sport and leisure activity to children and young people, who at that time made up around 30 percent of Kronsberg's residents, from October 2010 .

At the foot of the tower, the association of the same name had already leased a plot of land from the city of Hanover before the Kronsberg life tower opened in order to create a vegetable garden with the help of a specially founded boy scout group. Beach volleyball games were also regularly organized there.
