Zsigmond Villányi (born January 1, 1950 in Hercegszántó , † January 13, 1995 in Göd ) was a Hungarian pentathlete .

Career

Zsigmond Villányi took part in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich . In the individual, he placed twelfth, with the team, which also included András Balczó and Pál Bakó , in addition to Villányi , he won the silver medal behind the Soviet team.

At world championships he succeeded in 1971 both in the individual standings behind Borys Onyschtschenko and with András Balczó and Péter Kelemen in the team standings behind the Soviet Union, winning the runner-up world championship. In 1974 he became vice world champion again with the team, together with Tamás Kancsal and Tibor Maracskó .
