The swimming pool and lake belong to the city of Duisburg, the swimming club Rheinhausen 1913 has taken over the bathing areas since 1987 and also looks after them with a lifeguard supervision from the beginning of May to the beginning of September daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The swimming club had already been commissioned by the Krupp company as the first operator of the outdoor pool in 1914 . The history of the Kruppsee through the First and Second World Wars and its reconstruction up to the present day is closely linked to the history of the club.

In addition to the swimming pool, various celebrations take place every year, from the opening ceremony to the Kruppsee Cup, beach parties and water polo events to the Erwin-Wittrien memorial tournament. In addition, the ASC-Kruppsee (Angelsportclub Kruppsee Rheinhausen eV1924) is based.
