Crucifix in Illats (Photo by Jean-Auguste Brutails , around 1900)
The crucifix in the church of St-Laurent in Illats , a French commune in the Gironde department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was created in the 15th century. In 1908, the Gothic crucifix was added to the list of listed objects ( Base Palissy ) in France as Monument historique .
The body made of ivory belongs to the three-nail type, i.e. H. the stacked feet are pierced by a nail. This type has been common since around 1260. The wooden cross comes from a later time.
