crucifix

The crucifix at the church 6 is in the district Wanlo in Mönchengladbach ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ). It was built in the 19th century. The cross was entered under No. A 036 on August 18, 1994 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

architecture

The property is located immediately north of the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption in Wanlo.

In front of the north aisle wall, between two buttresses, there is a shaft cross on an articulated base. A rectangular base plate lies on a concrete floor slab, which leads over a load-bearing carnation into an upright, rectangular cube . This serves as the basis for the simple shaft cross, the head of the beam of which bears a goblet designed as a deep relief and the cross beam of an inscription that is no longer completely legible .

The inscription reads:

'Chalice (representation)' / THE / VEST MR.PARRIER / JOHANN WILHELM SYBEN / GEB. MARCH 28, 1769 AT SPENRATH / GEST. 19 JAN. 1844 TO WANLO / RIP / [...] / [...].

The object is the - presumably relocated - memorial stone of the former pastor Johann Wilhelm Syben from Wanlo.
