Krzysztof Żabiński

Krzysztof Jan Żabiński (born February 7, 1953 in Toruń ) is a Polish electrical engineer, politician and entrepreneur. He was a member of the 10th Sejm of the People's Republic and the 1st of the Third Republic .

Life

In 1976 he finished his studies at the Technical University of Poznan . From 1976 to 1989 he worked in the IT department of a spinning mill in Thorn. In 1980 he joined the Solidarność trade union . During the time of martial law he was interned from March to December 1982 .

From 1989 to 1993 he was a member of parliament, first for the "Kontrakt-Sejm" (for the citizens' committee , representing Solidarność), then for the first freely elected Sejm (for the Liberal Democratic Congress [KLD]). In 1994 the KLD merged with another party to form Unia Wolności , from which Żabiński left in 1996.

In 1991 he became head of the Ministerial Office in the Bielecki government . From 1992 to 1993 he was Deputy Minister for Internal Affairs in the Suchocka government .

In 1996 he retired from politics to pursue activities in the private sector. He took on supervisory board mandates in various large companies in the IT sector.

Honors

For his services to the democratization of Poland he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Polonia Restituta Order in 2009 and the Officer's Cross of the same order in 2011 .
