Krzysztof Gonciarz (born June 19, 1985 in Krakow , Poland ) is a Polish media producer , book author and video blogger .

Career

Even when he was still at school, Gonciarz was working as an official translator and voice actor on computer games such as Baldur's Gate 2 and Ratchet & Clank . He then studied cultural studies at the Jagiellonian University in his hometown of Krakow and then worked as an editor for the online portal GryOnline.pl . Between 2011 and 2012 he also published three guide books on computer games and the Internet .

Gonciarz has lived in Tokyo's central Shibuya district since 2014 , where he runs a media production company called Tofu Media LLC . At the same time he started working as a video blogger. For his contributions on travel through Japan , South Korea and Taiwan published on YouTube.com , he received the Traveler 2015 award from the National Geographic Society .

Via the crowdfunding portal Patronite , on which Gonciarz has meanwhile received most of the donations, he succeeded in realizing further projects in 2016. These include a documentary film about the Aokigahara suicide forest in Fujikawaguchiko, Japan, and a travel film about the nature and culture of Greenland . Until 2019, Gonciarz devoted himself primarily to the video channel TheUwagaPies , in which he and the Chicago- born video blogger Katharine Mecinski reported on everyday peculiarities in East Asia .
