Krzysztof Wojtyczek

Krzysztof Wojtyczek (born February 19, 1968 in Krakow ) is a Polish lawyer and judge at the European Court of Human Rights .

Live and act

After studying law, Wojtyczek obtained his master's degree in law from the Jagiellonian University in Cracow in 1991 . Subsequently, worked as a junior lecturer at the university, from 1999 as a lecturer. In 1998 he received his doctorate in Krakow. iur. and then worked as a scientific advisor at the Polish Constitutional Court. From 2000 to 2012 he was director of the Institute of French Law at the University of Krakow. In 2009 he completed his habilitation and received the venia legendi for state and constitutional law, among other things. In 2009/10 he was a member of a commission of experts on the drafting of a new chapter of the Polish constitution, which was supposed to establish membership in the European Union. Since 2010 he has been a full professor at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, where he holds the chair for constitutional law. In June 2012 he was elected judge at the European Court of Human Rights to succeed Lech Garlicki as representative of Poland . His term of office, which is expected to last until 2021, began on November 1, 2012.

In addition, together with his wife Agnieszka Wojtyczek-Bonnand, Wojtyczek translated and commented on the constitutional orders of Chile, Monaco, Luxembourg, South Africa and Brazil into Polish.
