The Cuckoo Mill is a Grade II listed water mill in the municipality of Huy in Saxony-Anhalt belonging to the district of Huy-Neinstedt . At the same time, it is run as the residential area of the district.
location
It is located about one kilometer northeast of Huy-Neinstedt am Hohlebach on the east side of the district road 1312 leading from Huy-Neinstedt to Anderbeck .
Architecture and history
The area has been used as a site for a water mill since the 15th century. It was a fief mill of the Huysburg monastery . Today's watermill has been preserved as a closed, half-timbered courtyard and dates from the second half of the 17th century, other data mention the 18th century. In 1783 minor modifications were made. Some functional technology, some of which is from the construction period, has been preserved. There is an overshot water wheel with a diameter of four meters. Elevators, two shot passages , a roller mill, an Askania sifter, a peeling machine, a wind sweep and a grinding and opening machine from the manufacturer Mühlenbau Nossen have also been preserved . Both the waterwheel and the shot gallery with an acceptance elevator are ready for use.
Until 1990 the cuckoo mill was operated commercially as a wage mill.
In the local register of monuments , the mill is listed as a monument under registration number 094 00123 .
