Hermann Schlegtendal

Hermann Schlegtendal (born February 5, 1887 in Duisburg , † February 4, 1957 in Schwerte ) was a German lawyer and politician . He was Lord Mayor of Lünen (1932–1935).

Life

Born as the son of a Duisburg merchant family, Schlegtendal studied law in Heidelberg , Göttingen and Münster . During his studies he became a member of the Frankonia Heidelberg fraternity in 1906 and of the Hannovera Göttingen fraternity in 1907 . After graduating, he was an assessor in 1914 . He took part in the First World War as an adjutant in a field artillery department. He then worked for a short time as a lawyer before moving to local government . From 1922 to 1926 he was an alderman in Kreuznach and then until 1932 mayor in Schwerte. On January 18, 1932, he became Lord Mayor of Lünen, but could not end his 12-year term of office because he was forced out of office by the National Socialists in 1935 for political reasons. After the war he lived in swords.
