The ball and roller bearing plant Leipzig (KRW) is an international manufacturer of rolling bearings based in the Leipzig district of Böhlitz-Ehrenberg .

history

The company began in 1904 as the Deutsche Kugellagerfabrik (DKF) in the Plagwitz district of Leipzig with the manufacture of roller bearings. In 1934 it was converted into a GmbH and moved to its current location in Böhlitz-Ehrenberg. The DKF quickly developed into an important manufacturer of rolling bearings. At that time, the diesel aircraft engines of Deutsche Lufthansa were only equipped with DKF rolling bearings. In 1942, the DKF already had 1,500 employees.

After the end of the Second World War , the company was initially continued as a so-called Soviet joint-stock company . From 1955 to 1990 the company operated as a state-owned company and became world-famous as VEB DKF Wälzlagerwerk Leipzig .

At the turn of 1990, DKF was integrated into the FAG Group . After a bankruptcy procedure and the successful 1993 bankruptcy , the company was re-established in 1993 as ball and roller bearings Leipzig GmbH and employed an annual average of 192 employees in 2016.
